Lume working to be pioneer in the Solar Industry, welcomes the new solar policy by Tamil Nadu Government which targets to add more 6,800 MW capacity over the next four years. The state has already around 2,200 MW installed. Furthermore, 40% of this additional capacity rise is planned to be fulfilled by Rooftop Solar systems.

Lume intends to fulfill the state policy of two categories for solar power generation which defines the utility category’s objective as sale of solar energy to TANGEDCO, and the consumer category has to encourage self-consumption and export of surplus energy to the grid.

Lume having a vast portfolio of Rooftop Solar installments feels that, the state will encourage and incentivize electricity consumers to set up solar energy systems and establish a ‘single window system’ for technical support, funding support and project clearance, encourage public-private partnerships and joint ventures to mobilize investments in solar energy projects, manufacturing facilities, research and technology development. It also seeks to facilitate ‘Ease of Doing Business’ in the solar energy sector.

The policy encourages public buildings to install solar energy systems, besides pushing corporations, municipalities and urban local bodies to use solar PV energy based street lights and water supply installations. Suitable incentive schemes will be designed to promote solar energy generation in agricultural sector as well as in co-utilization of land for solar energy projects, crop cultivation and water conservation, as derived by Lume.
